EVERTON AMERICA CT - THE EVERTON WAY
posted 10/18/2011 by Everton America CT

Everton America CT follows the training methods of Everton FC and The Everton Way. The Everton Way is known in soccer circles for having turned more young players into professional league first-team players (24) than just about any other system in the world. Five players were just 16 years old when they made it to the top level of the EPL! Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney was one of them along with Everton striker James Vaughan, the youngest player ever to score an EPL goal, and current midfield star Jack Rodwell. With this kind of consistent success, you might want to pay very close attention to The Everton Way.

As an official partner of Everton FC of the English Premier League our coach's are trained at the Everton FC Academy in the UK. See footage of the December 2010 visit below:

EVERTON FC VS FULHAM FC

Two of the USA's biggest stars go head-to-head this week as their respective clubs aim to take a giant stride towards one of the biggest sporting occasions on the planet. Hundreds of thousands will be following events worldwide, each wanting to know which of the duo will lead their side to glory. But this isn't the Superbowl. It isn't The Stanley Cup. It's not the World Series. It's Everton versus Fulham in the English FA Cup.

The importance of the tie and the meeting of Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey - arguably the greatest two footballers the USA has produced - is not lost on compatriot and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard.

On one hand his side are vying for a place in the fifth round of a competition they are desperate to win. On the other, the Blues' exposure to an American audience may be as great as ever. "I would hope there'll be a big American interest," he told evertontv. "They are two of our biggest marquee players, not because of their marketability, how they dress or the way they look but because they are our best players bar none, and from a US national team standpoint they're the key cogs. We need to have Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey at their best to make waves, win competitions, qualify for World Cups and so on."

Having served as a home to the likes of Joe-Max Moore, Brian McBride and Howard himself, Everton's standing on the other side of the Atlantic has long been high. That interest peaked, however, with the loan acquisition of Landon Donovan from LA Galaxy in January 2010. So mutual was the respect born between Club and player during his three months in England, America's all-time leading scorer promised a return to the Premier League would only ever lead him back to Goodison Park. His return earlier this month was therefore heralded by fans and to date the pocket-sized forward has done little to disappoint.

Meanwhile, at Craven Cottage, Dempsey has been in the form of his life - 15 goals in 29 appearances this season making him one of England's most deadly marksmen. The 28-year-old's emergence as Fulham's primary threat was perhaps best demonstrated by his clinical second-half hat-trick against Newcastle last weekend and Howard believes America's hottest two talents are meeting whilst at the very height of their powers.

"For me they are top, top players and I think they continue to prove that every single year,” he said. "Without any disrespect to Fulham, I think Clint's been their best player for quite a while and it seems year after year they begin to rely more and more on his presence, on his goals and on his leadership. I know Clint has been on a wonderful scoring run but hopefully we can keep him out and keep him quiet.

"And Landon. What can you say about Landon? He wins championships and he's always the best player or thereabouts. He has been a huge positive for us. He's put in some really solid performances and one thing about Landon is he's very aware of what goes on on a football field and he reads situations and how he can best provide for the team in those situations.

"He's very clever in that regard and talent-wise he's up there with the best. He's done well. We always kind of knew him coming back was a great situation for him, a great situation for us and that it would be seamless, because he's been here before and understands the landscape.”

Howard’s own zenith in an Everton shirt arguably came in helping David Moyes’ men reach the FA Cup final in 2009, his penalty shootout heroics in the semi-final proving the difference against heavy favourites Manchester United. The keeper is targetting Wembley once again and wants victory over Fulham this weekend. He added: “It's the FA Cup and we know what it tastes like to be in a final, so that's a huge, huge motivating factor. It's odd to play on a Friday night but it will be at the end of a long working week for the supporters and I think it will be nice to play under the lights. “I always like to play earlier than all the other teams because it gets the result out of the way and allows you, if you get a good result, to enjoy your weekend and watch the other games knowing that you're going to be in the hat."

EVERTON AMERICA JOIN NATIONAL PREMIER LEAGUES

In 2011, Everton America was a founding member of a new regional boys league, known as NEESL. US Club Soccer, a member of the United States Soccer Federation, have officially announced their sanctioning of this league as one of their National Premier Leagues (NPL). Commencing in spring 2012, all of our regional teams will now be competing in the New York Club Soccer League NPL. To view the official announcement please visit www.nyclubsoccerleague.com or www.usclubsoccer.org

Based upon fundamental principles in US Club Soccer’s 10-year vision the NPL have been created to provide a national development platform with the highest level of competition in given geographic areas, and to elevate and change competitive youth soccer. The vision recognizes that:
  • Properly-structured youth soccer clubs are the vehicle through which player development does and must occur in the United States.
  • For the country’s top soccer clubs, allowing consistent, meaningful high-level games appropriately scheduled with higher training-to-game ratios and eliminate calendar congestion.
  • National Premier Leagues, as well as the best clubs, should be integrated in US Club Soccer’s id2 national identification and development program, include Player Development Programs in select local markets, and work closely with U.S. Soccer National staff and Technical Advisors regarding player identification, and player and coach development.
Recent additions to the NPL include the New England NPL and the Southern Californian NPL, joining the Pre-Academy leagues of the North-East, South-East and Texas along with Florida, Gulf States, Midwest, NorCal, Northern Illinois and Oregon Premier Leagues. The NPL presently encompasses 12 leagues comprised of select premier clubs and pre-academy teams. For a full list of leagues and clubs please visit www.nationalpremierleagues.com/clubs

The NPL season culminates with the National Premier Leagues Champions Cup. The inaugural NPLCC will take place July 27-30, 2012, at Waukegan Sports Park in Waukegan, Ill., where winners of each NPL will compete against each other for NPL national championships.

It is testament to the club and the progress we have made over the past 18 months that we have now reached a new platform to allow our players to compete at the highest level. The credentials that allowed us to qualify to become a member club of NPL are:
  • Coaching licensing and continuing education
  • Training frequencies
  • Administrative support
  • Facilities
  • Developmental curriculum

US Club Soccer is working with top clubs across the country to improve the development and competition platform for American players. The National Premier Leagues will be a large part of improving this environment.

BOYS U12 REGIONAL WIN CJSA PREMIER LEAGUE
by posted 11/30/2011

Norwalk, CT – The Everton America CT Boys U12 Regional team rounded off a fantastic fall season recently with two wins in the CJSA Premier League that saw the team finish with a 9-0 record, and as Champions of the U12 CJSA Premier League Red Division. The boys went undefeated throughout the league season seeing off strong competition from CFC Wolves, Soccerplus Stars and Newtown Samba to name just a few, scoring 27 goals and conceding only 3 across all 9 games.

Going in to the final league weekend of the season the U12 Regional team knew that victory in their remaining two fixtures would ensure the league Championship. The boys responded in confident fashion with a strong 3-0 win against local rivals Beachside and a comprehensive 4-0 win against CFC Gunners, much to the delight of coach John Davies, “A fantastic effort by the team and a great achievement for the boys to go through a league season undefeated, these final two games demonstrated the development of our team and to record wins in both games against such strong opposition shows just how confident our boys are at the moment. Scoring 7 goals and recording 2 clean sheets is not an easy task but credit goes to our boys for their efforts both defensively and offensively.”

The CJSA Premier League Championship rounds off a very successful season for the boys having already finished as Champions of the 2011 YMS Columbus Cup (PA) Tournament in October, and as finalists at the Farmington (CT) Labor Day Tournament in September. The boys are also competing in the North East Elite Soccer League against some of the strongest competition New York has to offer, competition which includes World Class FC, HBC Flames, Brooklyn Italians and New York Elite. With four games remaining coach John Davies is confident of a strong finish, “the boys have really stepped up their game this season and with confidence riding high from our CT league championship, we feel we can carry this momentum into our remaining NEESL games for a top three finish”.

With all the success of this season behind the team planning for 2012 has already begun, alongside the team’s involvement in the CT Premier League and North East Elite Soccer League the Everton America CT Boys U12 Regional team will participate in some of the best tournaments on offer beginning with the Manhattan Soccer Club Spring Kick Off in March 2012.

BOYS U13 REGIONAL WIN 2011 'EDP CUP'
by posted 11/15/2011

The Everton America CT Boys U13 Regional team went undefeated this past weekend in winning the first ever Maps Fall 2011 ‘EDP Cup’ in Hammonton, New Jersey. Away for their third tournament of the Fall season the boys got off to a great start beating Downtown United (NYE) 3-1 in their first group game, and beating North Union United 6-1 (PAE) in their second, with both games made difficult by the heavy winds at the field complex. After drawing with World Class FC (NYE) 2-2 in their final group game the Regional team moved on to defeat East Meadow Hawks (NYE) 4-0 in the final of the competition. Congratulations to the boys.

This is the third final appearance and second tournament championship for the group this season, having finished as champions of the 2011 Peter Renzulli Labor Day Tournament and as finalists of the 2011 YMS Columbus Cup, narrowly losing on penalties. The team is currently in first place in the North East Elite Soccer League having won four of five games, drawing once, and have qualified for the knockout stage of the 2011-2012 NY Cup. Alongside this recent success the group is scheduled to participate in some of the best showcase tournaments and competitions across the country in 2012, with several players receiving individual recognition with the ‘USSF Training Center’ and ‘ID 2’ programs respectively.

EVERTON AMERICA CT WELCOMES OFFICAL PARTNER EVERTON FC
by Everton America CT posted 08/10/2011

NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk-based Everton America CT premier soccer club welcomed its official partner from the English Premier League and also had several players work as ball boys for a Major League Soccer game in Philadelphia.

Ray Hall, the Everton Academy manager of over 20 years, and head coach Neil Dewsnip visited the Norwalk group. Everton CT's coaching staff was able to watch Everton FC UK under 18s train and play twice. More than a hundred club members traveled south to see Everton's first team in action against the Philadelphia Union.

Everton ball boys for the game included Alex Currie, Old Greenwich; Frankie Lugossy, Weston; Max Potter, New Canaan; Eric Pinaud, Norwalk; Cameron Riach, Weston; and Luis Karaiskos, Norwalk. Wilton's Ian Hoffmann and New Canaan's Eli Hilt served as player escorts.

"It was awesome,'' said Hilt, who is nine years old. "I got to lead Everton out on to the field and sing the national anthem, I had a chance to see what it is like for the professionals. I hope I can do that someday as a player.”

Dewsnip returned to Norwalk and ran two clinics on the club's fields. "The boys did great, they worked hard in the heat, were technically sound and showed great ability,'' Dewsnip said.

For the players and coaching staff of Everton CT it was another tremendous opportunity to learn from the best.

For coach John Davies, himself an ex-Everton youth player and head coach of three Everton America CT boys’ teams, it was another opportunity to see the English Premier League club's methods up close. "We visited the academy in the U.K. back in December, which was tremendous and now to see the club over here, in our own back yard, it gave us another opportunity to learn from the best,” Davies said.
